Here’s another research report on the anticipated “consumer sentiment shift” in Malaysia. I haven’t really had a chance to look at this closely but a couple of off-the-cuff questions/concerns spring to mind (don’t crucify me if I’ve missed something! But do let me know….) 1) I don’t know why government pump priming is included in this analysis. To me, government spending is different from consumer spending and should be analysed separately. 2) Just because the environment improves, do not expect your company to translate that into healthy profit margins. Quality of management is important (so I honestly don’t know why they picked MAS. Maybe I will ask them). 3) This analysis ignores better counters which are deriving their profits from abroad (like Topglove - which I will post more on later. But I suppose that isn’t the objective of this piece.).
Anyway enjoy!
